Please note: works best on desktop, laptop, or tablet screens; if you've arrived at this web page on a smart phone, please try a larger screen for best results.
Directions: Use the controls at left to customize your spiral art. Use the slider to change the overall size of the whole (outer) circle, but you can also play with all of the settings of the inner circle, how the marker is positioned, rotation, color, and more! Let it run for a while to see what you come up with, and if you have a final result you want to share, check the box labeled "stop motion," take a screen shot, and send it to us so that we can share it in our Spiral Art Gallery. If you want some ideas, scroll down to see our samples.
Please note, however, that any changes to the controls will result in the spiral art game starting over ... so make sure to let it run for a while on the settings you choose first so that you can see what you come up with!
What is this?
Our Spiral Art Game is a geometric drawing tool that produces mathematical-based curves which can be scientifically defined as "hypotrochoids" and "epitrochoids." Okay, that's a mouthful, and if you're looking for a more simple explanation, it's like using a digital pen attached to rotating gears, mechanical art, if you want to call it that. But the possibilities are quite endless, as there are six different variables that you can change, each with a range within that variable. Why not try tweaking the controls and change the colors and see if you can make your own unique art work! See what others have created and submitted to our gallery here!

As you can see, the possibilities are quite varied ... what can you come up with?
We have assembled a Spiral Art Gallery to showcase your creativity. Thanks to those who have sent us their spiral art!
