Monster Maze Game

[From our collection of Printables]

A print-and-play maze featuring a carved dagger handle from the early 1300's, featuring a hybrid monster-lion on top and dragon images carved into the handle. Click on the button below or the big image for the printable PDF.

This object is called a "hilt," which is defined as the handle of a weapon or tool, especially a sword or dagger. Museum curators consider it to be possibly Venetian (Italy) and from the early 1300's. There is an Asian style to the dragons carved into the handle, but Venice was a crossroads in the Middle Ages where east and west mixed. More information on this piece can be found here.
