New movie titled Paint features Owen Wilson as a Bob Ross-like artist

Speaking in a soft voice, painting landscapes, having a big head of curly hair … sounds like Bob Ross, doesn’t it? Yet a new movie coming out titled “Paint” and starring Owen Wilson is about a fictional character named “Carl Nargle,” who is described as “Vermont’s #1 public television painter who is convinced he has it all: a signature perm, custom van, and fans hanging on his every stroke, until a younger, better artist steals everything (and everyone) Carl loves.”

“Paint” is set to be released by IFC Films in early April, and in addition to Wilson, the film’s co-stars include Michaela Watkins, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Lusia Strus, and Stephen Root. The trailer doesn’t reference Bob Ross, and the events in the film did not happen in Ross’ life, but the visual appearance and mannerisms of Wilson’s character leave no doubt who “Carl Nargle” is suggesting we think about in this role. Here’s the trailer, let us know what you think in the comments section below.
