Continuing with my new interest in the artist Jack Whitten, I found the following video from around the same time of his exhibition “Five Decades of Painting,” which took place at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis during 2015-2016. He makes some very interesting statements, such as: “when people ask me, what’s your definition of art, you know what I tell them? Structured feelings.” Another comment that grabbed my attention was this idea: “Google has mapped the whole world. We have maps of Mars. So, we’ve done a lot of mapping. We do not have a map of the soul, and that intrigues me.”
