I received a press release for an upcoming exhibition of works by Alison Hixon which will open at Susan Eddings Pérez Gallery in Santa Fe on December 2nd. Titled “a spoon to dark matter,” the new work by Hixon invites the viewer to “… taste the unknown parts, ideas, and mechanisms that drive you to be you.” Alison Hixon is a self-taught artist whose work features a range of surreal illustrations and stained glass works. Below are two art works from the upcoming exhibition: below left, “the cost of conversation,” 2022, mixed media measuring 18 x 24 inches, and below right, “i put myself here,” 2022, mixed media measuring 30 x 22 inches.
The artist has shared the following statement about her work: “My work often depicts distorted perceptions, exaggerated emotions, and contorted female figures placed in surreal surroundings or landscapes. I like to show how our emotions change our bodies physically and how it affects the environment around us.” Read more about Alison Hixon and see more of her work here.
The exhibition will be on view through January 2, 2023, and the Susan Eddings Perez Gallery is located at 717 Canyon Road in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
