Howard Finster-like character at Ocean Putt Golf in Cape May

When I was recently in Cape May, NJ, and walking around exploring, I passed by Ocean Putt Golf on Beach Avenue and noticed this rotating/spinning man and woman character who come in and out of this little yellow house. If you’ve played mini golf with obstacles like this before, one has to time your putt to go in and through the structure at the exact time when both characters are positioned in a way where there’s a gap to go through.

But there was something about the guy – with his hat and overalls, and very simple appearance, that reminded me very much of one of the folk artist Howard Finster’s popular characters – which you can see here. Do you see the resemblance?

I’ve seen different versions of the Howard Finster character in the link above – here’s one where’s he’s referred to as “Elvis at 3.” If you’re not familiar with Howard Finster, he’s a fascinating artist and one can read more about him here.
