I received an invite to the upcoming exhibition titled Small Works: $100 & Under, taking place at the Fountain House Gallery from November 4th – December 29th. It intrigues me on several levels: one, Fountain House Gallery and Studio provides an environment where artists living with mental illness can express their creative visions, exhibit their work, and challenge the stigma that surrounds mental illness. I’ve seen artists from their program at the Outsider Art Fair several times (including this work by Angela Rogers), and I find the work to be very interesting. Two, the price range of $100 and under is certainly attractive, and one can feel good buying art from this venue knowing that the money goes to both the artists and the organization that supports them in their artistic endeavors.
Speaking of Angela Rogers, one of her works is included in the promotional material for the show, and is pictured below right. I only see 4 pieces on their promo link, but assume there will be many more in the exhibition once it opens.
