Hand-painted rocks by kids to offer encouragement in these times

We reported on a “rock garden” of hand-painted rocks by kids in Glen Ridge (NJ) the other day, with positive messages for people as we all struggle and deal with the coronavirus pandemic. It seems the neighbors (a few blocks away) were inspired, and this second rock garden with words of encouragement has appeared, also in Glen Ridge.

I’m sure it’s a great project for the kids, both to keep them busy and creative, but also to engage in positive thinking and words of encouragement for others walking by (like me with my dogs!).

As you can see in these pictures, there’s a combination of painted rocks with messages such as “Thank you First Responders,” “Stay Safe,” and “Be Kind,” and then there’s painted rocks with simple decorative colors and shapes. Nice work!
