How many spots in a Damien Hirst painting?

Here’s 4 different views of a Damien Hirst spot painting (or rather, a triptych) at Gagosian Gallery. You can get a sense of how big it is by comparing it to the people standing in front of it, and then the bottom two pictures were taken at various distances moving closer to the painting. So do we have any guesses based on what you’re seeing here as to how many spots might exist total in the 3 panels of this triptych?

On a side note, Damien Hirst has painted numerous spot paintings over the years. According to an article in the NY Times, Mr. Hirst has said he painted the first few dozen. The creation (or rather, production?) of the others, he has left mainly to a collection of assistants to execute. But even with multiple people working on this triptych at once, it must still take a long time to paint this many spots … what do you think? 30,000? 50,000? More? Leave your guesses in the comments section below.
