Making furniture from plastic garbage found in the ocean

I heard about an interesting project today, where two designers known as “Studio Swine” made a chair using plastic garbage pulled from the ocean. Studio Swine is a collaboration between Japanese architect Azusa Murakami and British artist Alexander Groves, and in this case, “Swine” is an acronym for “Super Wide Interdisciplinary New Explorers” … love it!

The artistic duo have taken to the ocean in fishing boats and collected enough plastic to make a series of such chairs, complete with tags indicating the geographical coordinates where it was made.
