Nature’s version of a Mark Tobey painting

As I was coming home from a dog walk, I noticed a slight indentation in the street where a puddle had formed, which then caused any leaves that blew by to stick to the water and stay within that indentation (below left). The visual appearance that resulted from this reminded me of a Mark Tobey painting, in that the shapes and colors appear somewhat chaotic but at the same time are restricted within the rectangular shape of the canvas. The Mark Tobey artwork below right is titled “Confusion” and dates from 1970.
