It took 8 years to throw away that Kerry/Edwards poster?

I found it somewhat humorous that as the 2012 Presidential election is coming up later this year, that someone would now just get around to throwing out their campaign poster from 8 years ago …? I can maybe see holding on to a politcal sign if you’re a huge supporter and your guy won the election, but what’s the logic of tucking away a losing sign when the election was over?

It also made me curious about political posters from the past … were they ever more artistic than the simplistic red-white-and-blue posters of current times? I found three great examples, below, two of which show a lot more visual interest, and then Warhol’s pop approach for the 1972 election between McGovern and Nixon.
