Wynton Marsalis, inspiring on 60 Minutes

We saw a recent episode of 60 Minutes on the DVR last night, this one featuring jazz musician Wynton Marsalis. He had a quote in particular which we consider to be a “home run” of a statement:

“The arts are our collective human heritage. You’re a better person if you know what Shakespeare was talkin’ about. If you know what Beethoven struggled with, if you know about Matisse. If you know what Louis Armstrong actually sang through his horn, you’re better. Because it’s just like, you get to speak with the wisest people who ever lived,” Marsalis said (see this quote at the 11:30 mark).
