We saw this painted piano by Yayoi Kusama at the Robert Miller Gallery in NYC last Friday … and the first thought that came to mind is, does one still use this as a piano, or once Kusama painted it, does it get relegated to sculpture-only? For an artist who has been exhibiting internationally for the past 50 years, including museum shows at the Whitney, Tate Modern, the Stedelijk Museum, MoMA, LA County Museum of Art, Walker Art Center, and so forth, it’s a question not to be taken lightly, considering the value of any art work created by her. What do you think?
